After inspiring a whole new wave of adventure travellers to hit the road with the Mighty Aussie Road Trip, THL have commissioned Rat & Dragon to create its younger cousin in the Mini Kiwi Road Trip.

“Shooting tiny glow worms in the heart of Waitomos limestone caves was quite a challenge,” explains director Saxon, “as you can just leave the shutter open if you’re taking stills. This doesn’t work with video, so we shot movement through timelapse, some of them taking 40 minutes, huge patience and VERY slow walking from our talent for a 2 second take. What a place though, you can see why Nat Geo go wild over it!”

THL have commissioned a standalone Waitomo film in addition to the road trip production, check their facebook page for more details.

Australia’s two biggest skydiving companies Skydive Australia and Skydive the Beach have announced their merger in addition to branching out to New Zealand in acquiring N-Zone. The team have commissioned Rat & Dragon to produce a brand new suite of marketing content across their 12 Australian drop zones.

“This isn’t the first time we’ve worked for a company listed on the stock market,” producer Nicola tells us. “But it certainly is the first time we’ll be jumping out of planes on a regular basis. What an incredible project to be involved in.”

Over the course of 6 months, the Rat & Dragon team will produce 12 films for drop zones in Queensland, New South Wales, Western Australia and Victoria as well as an overarching Hero film.

From the vast red outback to the big city and Rat & Dragon are on production for Morning Gloryville, on a mission to bring pre-work sober raving to the masses.

Commissioned by Tourism Western Australia and STA Travel, the Rat & Dragon team journey 3333km (not precisely) capturing what makes Western Australia extraordinary and extraordinarily suitable for the adventure travel market.

“Swimming with whale sharks and Karijini were life highlights,” explains producer Nicola, “you have to travel huge distances to get that kind of thing in the can. Sunsets in WA are incredibly colourful too, so shooting here has been an absolute joy.”
